Paragliding courses: what types of training are available ?

Like all air sports, paragliding is a learned sport. It's important to know that paragliding can be divided into different disciplines, such as Cross, Walk & Fly and Acrobatics. That's why Ffvl-approved paragliding schools offer a wide variety of paragliding courses ! Depending on your skill level and objectives, you're bound to find a paragliding course to suit your needs. In fact, courses often range from beginners' courses for learning to fly alone, to cross-country courses for flying hundreds of kilometers, for example.

And whether you're available on weekdays or weekends, you'll also find several formulas to suit your schedule.

Discover a quick summary of all the paragliding courses offered by Air et Aventure below :

PARAGLIDING DISCOVER COURSE

The mini discover course takes place over a single day and consists of a learning session on a school slope, during which you handle the paraglider in a field to simulate a take-off. Then, in the afternoon, you'll take to the skies for a first flight in the safety of a two-seater paraglider accompanied by a qualified instructor. This will give you the chance to test your take-off and landing skills on your first flight.

BEGINNER PARAGLIDING COURSE FOR BEGINNERS

The paragliding beginner's course is offered by paragliding schools for beginners with no previous knowledge of paragliding. Here you'll learn the basics of piloting, with theoretical and practical lessons on how to take off and land safely, as well as making your first solo paragliding flights. It's the ideal way to discover paragliding and take your first steps with confidence.

PARAGLIDING PROGRESSION COURSE

Paragliding progression courses are aimed at paragliders who have already completed an introductory course. During these courses, your instructors will take you to different flying sites, and try to get you a little more autonomous so that you can start flying on your own.

ADVANCED PARAGLIDING COURSE

The advanced course is generally the one that will finally lead you to autonomy. The aim of this course is clearly focused on flying in varied conditions (thermals). During the course, you'll fly at different sites, and learn advanced piloting techniques for your wing.

SINGLE SKIN PARAGLIDING COURSE

For those with a passion for the mountains, single-skin paragliding courses allow you to discover the discipline from a specific, new angle. Similar to classic paragliding courses, mono-surface courses don't use the same paragliding equipment. You'll be using very light, compact wings. These courses are essentially aimed at people wishing to do exclusively Hike & Fly, also known as vol-rando.

SINGLE SKIN BEGINNER AND PROGRESSION COURSE

Like the classic paragliding initiation course, the mono-surface initiation course will introduce you to the basics of paragliding. The aim is to learn how to take off and land safely, and to make your first big flights alone. Once again, this course differs in that it uses equipment designed for mountain paragliding.

STAGE DE PERFECTIONNEMENT TECHNIQUE

During our paragliding technical advanced courses, you'll be taking off and landing on several different sites. You'll have multiple objectives! Increase your flight volume, improve your technique in flight and on the ground, increase your theoretical knowledge to bring you safety and optimization, etc... You'll have the opportunity to define your own objectives and discuss them with your instructors so that they can provide you with the knowledge you wish to acquire.

CROSS-COUNTRY PARAGLIDING COURSE

Cross paragliding courses are designed for autonomous paragliders with a confirmed pilot's license. If you have these prerequisites and would like to further improve your flying skills and optimize the aerological day in order to get around, here are the courses on offer :

CROSS COUNTRY PARAGLIDING COURSE LEVEL 1

This course is designed for pilots wishing to begin flying distances of several dozen kilometers. The Level 1 Cross Paragliding course will introduce you to pilot preparation and the basics of weather forecasting. In addition, you'll learn how to define a flight itinerary and many other skills required for cross country flying

CROSS-COUNTRY PARAGLIDING COURSE LEVEL 2

During these courses, you'll be making greater demands on your flying. Transition between several mountain ranges, longer flights, more than 100 kilometers in the air... As you can imagine, this course is designed to help you push your limits, while raising your awareness so that you stay within acceptable safety margins.

MENTAL PREPARATION COURSES

Paragliding-themed mental preparation courses are supervised by a specialist.

The objectives of these courses depend exclusively on the pilot! It's you who comes with a problem, a precise objective (not necessarily related to your technique) and your instructor will be there to try to bring you solutions to your problems.

Whether you're looking to rediscover the pleasure of flying, overcome your fear following a flying incident, or gain the confidence to increase your flying time and fly better, the instructor will provide a follow-up tailored to your needs.
