WICH IS THE BEST REGION FOR PARAGLIDING IN FRANCE ?
France is probably one of the countries where paragliding is most developed. The best paragliders in the world are French and come from all 4 corners of France ! So it's a safe bet that you'll be able to find a FFVL-approved paragliding school or instructor who can help you make your first tandem paragliding flight on a flying site, no matter where you are!
However, it's worth noting that some regions are better suited than others to the practice of aerial sports, thanks in particular to more favorable weather conditions, more suitable topography, and the various facilities put in place to facilitate pilot take-offs and landings.
The Alpine arc, and more specifically the departments of Isere, Savoie and Haute-Savoie, are probably the most developed areas for paragliding in France! There's a real economy in place around this aerial sport (store, school, club, etc.) and all the conditions are in place for you to enjoy your first paragliding tandem flight.
The mountainous regions generally offer good aerological conditions for a first paragliding experience and a serene flight.
Seaside areas with some relief (Dune du Pilat, cliffs, etc.) offer flights at lower altitudes, but are often great fun thanks to the sensation of speed due to their proximity to the ground. What's more, the view of the sea or ocean makes for a magical setting! These are often unforgettable flights.
In conclusion, France is a privileged country for recreational and competition paragliding, thanks to its favorable climatic conditions and suitable topography. However, some regions are more suitable than others, such as the Alps and mountainous areas in general, as well as coastal areas with relief. For pilots located near Grenoble, the Coupe Icare site at Saint-Hilaire-du-Touvet is the best-known place to take a paragliding tandem flight and enjoy an unforgettable flight in an idyllic setting.
