DUNE COURSE PRESENTATION : SOARING
If you want to play with your paraglider in a laminar wind and on a welcoming ground, the Dune du Pilat is the place to be in France, regularly offering ideal dynamic flying conditions in a magnificent setting.
Static or dynamic ground piloting, flights close to the ground to fine-tune trajectories, team games or contemplative soaring at sunset; the dune is our favorite playground for accumulating hours of fun and safe practice thanks to its fine sand and sea breeze.
DUNE COURSE OBJECTIVES
The aim of the course is to make the most of the site's special conditions (laminar breeze, varied slopes with no obstacles) in order to:
- enjoy inflating and playing on the ground
- improve glider control in strong winds
- improve piloting precision (phases close to the ground / resting on the take-off...)
- maximize teaching efficiency : practice time, instructor proximity
THE COURSE PROGRAM
The Dune course is aimed at pilots who are autonomous (take-off/landing), have their own equipment (harness with protection compulsory) and have already practised face glider inflation (little experience OK).
Two instructors supervise a group of 6 trainees. This allows all trainees to practice simultaneously, and to adapt to their individual pace of progress.
The course lasts between 5 and 6 days : Monday to Saturday. It consists of :
Practical sessions :
- Implementation in “strong” wind: preparation, inflation techniques, lowering and safety.
- Static and ground exercises: window edge, kite, barefoot
- Exercises with flight: flight regimes, knowing your stall point, resting “on the ground”.
- Games, according to group homogeneity: regattas, relays...
Theoretical sessions :
- Exercise briefing
- Video debriefing
- Theoretical topics related to soaring
This service only includes on-site supervision. Transport, accommodation and meals are the responsibility of the trainee.
