Birdy Supair: The Swiss Army Knife
The Birdy is Supair 's new EN A wing for 2022. Right from the design stage, the watchword was to make this wing the new benchmark in its category in terms of versatility. Thanks to its cutting-edge technical features, it will quickly become a must-have in the school-leaver segment. Indeed, it is primarily aimed at novice pilots who have completed their training and are looking for a thrill. But there's more to it than just being a school-leaver, and its program offers a wide range of possibilities.
Flying the Supair Birdy
Flying the Birdy is easy and intuitive. It's the ideal tool for those first flights in total autonomy. The high line speed and performance-oriented design make the Birdy a top-of-the-range wing. It features a playful turn for fun and plenty of room for improvement. The Sharknose profile further enhances its status as a playful, high-performance wing.
Design
The Birdy is made from a variety of lightweight fabrics. Dominico D30 and D20 soft are used for the top surface, while Porcher Skytex 27 g/m² is used for the bottom surface. The result is an extremely light and compact wing. However, the Birdy's robust design ensures excellent durability. The use of Nitinol on the large openings, anti-friction rings and Smart mini ribs all contribute to its durability. It is EN 926 - 1 and 2 and LTF 91/09 approved, placing it in category EN A.
The pros' opinion
"The Birdy blew me away. There's very little air, yet the glider rises on its own and doesn't overtake me. I feel like I'm rediscovering a bit of the paragliding I started out with, with the added performance and speed... it's insane! The glider doesn't shoot, the turn is very intuitive and the brake is really smooth. It's just crazy to have such a quiet glider with such respectable performance. I think this glider is ideal for pilots who are looking for a safe compromise but still want to enjoy some great flying."
