Reach new heights!
Gin has succeeded in integrating the qualities of a top-level wing into a B-rated glider. The wing's maneuverability makes it very enjoyable in thermals. The Explorer 2 has a surprisingly natural glide, enabling it to bite into thermals while maintaining its initial speed. It's soon back overhead, ready to maneuver to center the thermal. The lightness of the controls means you'll be able to pick up all the information you need to adjust in relation to the core.
A step above
The designers have succeeded in improving what was already excellent in the first version of the explorer. Increased surface area and work on the wing's aerodynamic profile have enabled the Explorer 2 to gain in comfort and performance. It still ranks in the B High segment, with no equivalent on the market today.
Take-off
The Light character of the wing makes it as easy to inflate as ever. In calm conditions, there's no need to force the wing up over your head. In more sustained conditions, the wing's gradual ascent allows the pilot to anticipate and time it overhead. Once under control, all the pilot has to do is let the wing take over, without having to make a major effort.
Speed and handling
The wing features brand-new risers, reworked for the occasion by GIN. The Harken pulleys allow the brake lines to glide smoothly, for improved feel and information. Essential tools for the new wings, the C-risers have also been fitted with pilot ergos.
The Explorer 2 also features a 2 cm longer accelerator travel, allowing the pilot to optimize the wing's speed range. These extra centimetres will not be insignificant when flying upwind.
The words of Gin Seok Song
The thoughts of the designer and CEO of the Gin brand speak volumes about the performance achieved by their new jewel.
According to him, it wasn't easy to improve what was already an excellent glider. The design team decided to play up the wing's surface area, despite the fact that the trend in recent years has been towards minimization. For Gin, the increased surface area brings several advantages, including pure performance and stability. Thanks to wind tunnel testing, the team succeeded in increasing the surface area without compromising the responsiveness of the Explorer 2. These tests are being carried out in partnership with a university in Korea.
