The Beamer 3: the ideal rescue parachute for paragliding
Nova 's new Beamer 3 parachute is a Rogallo-type steerable parachute for easy installation and opening.
Quick opening thanks to the Beamer 3's unique shape and packing technique
Rescue parachute opening time is a crucial criterion in an emergency, especially when launching at low altitude. In this case, every second counts. The Beamer 3 stands out from its competitors thanks to its singular shape and special packing technique, enabling it to open up to 50% faster than a common round rescue parachute. It even achieved record values in EN tests.
Low sink rate for maximum safety
Fall rate is also an important safety factor when opening a rescue parachute. With its low wing loading and modest forward speed, the Beamer 3 offers an unrivalled sink rate, confirmed by the EN certification authority with a speed of 3.9 m/s at a maximum weight of 130 kg (without glider). The additional braking effect of the glider reduces this value to less than 3m/s.
Stable flight for total control
The interaction between the rescue system and the glider is of paramount importance in the development of the Rogallo. The Beamer 3 distinguishes itself from its competitors by remaining attached to the glider after rapid opening, which is the most frequent case of emergency. Thanks to its low wing loading, it begins a slow, stable horizontal movement without being disturbed by the glider.
Braked configuration for a controlled fall
The Beamer 3 takes advantage of the glider 's braked opening configuration, enabling it to fall almost vertically when opening near a cliff or in strong winds. This configuration also effectively counters the "downplane" effect by limiting the wing 's horizontal speed. The large surface area of the braked Rogallo also prevents the acceleration of this mirror effect between the glider and the rescue, increasing safety and reducing the risk of injury.
Easy piloting for a confident descent
The Beamer 3 is easy to pilot and offers a pleasant descent under the rescue. Unlike many other rescues, it poses no problems for paraglider towing in real-life situations. The rescue reacts instantly to the pilot's commands, offering a minimal sink rate. It also improves handling during rescue launches for SIV courses, when the main wing is already flying without incident.
The Beamer 3 is also available in a light version.
