Description

Urubu King: Version on steroids

Although it shares the same base/platform as the Urubu, it offers better glide and performance in thermals and atspeed-bar. In fact, the base remains the same with its 57 cells. But the aerodynamic profile has undergone a number of important changes: the internal structure has been enhanced by the addition of long ribs on the suspended bulkheads, and mini-ribs on the trailing edge.

Urubu King design

The wing is built 100% in 27 gr. our tests revealed an incredible benefit in terms of flying comfort, without compromising durability and strength.

The long bridles add a great deal of consistency/compactness despite the increased aspect ratio. During the development process, we produced prototypes with and without... The result was clear! Thanks to the use of nylon, these rods do not penalize bending in any way, and remain ultra-flexible!

A new profile, slightly more voluminous on the front 1/3, has been developed for this wing. This profile offers better performance and greater stability in acceleration. It has also enabled us to reduce the size of the air inlets, a parameter that helps improve aerodynamic efficiency! The wing has more bite in thermals, but retains the legendary pitch damping that has been a hallmark of all LittleCloud wings since the beginning! Its aspect ratio has been increased to 6.45!

Target for the Urubu King

This wing is aimed at EN C-type pilots. The higher performance level makes it a little more demanding than the Urubu Classic, so pilots entering this class should give preference to the latter. That said, it's still a LittleCloud, and the Urubu King will never trick you.

The wing speaks to you clearly and always warns you of difficult conditions. It's very reassuring! Its pre-stall travel is very long (at least 60cm on the L at 105kg - a treat for take-offs). It can be used for Cross, Soaring, Hike and Fly - as always, LittleCloud is all about versatility! It will delight Hike and Fly enthusiasts, among others, with its limited weight and folding volume, and its capacities! Its flawless inflation, even in strong winds, means you can take off from the most unlikely places.

The canopy has also been reworked so that the increased aspect ratio doesn't interfere with the Urubu's incredible manoeuvrability. The King is extremely precise and just as maneuverable as its little sister.

The use of Mini-Ribs on the trailing edge provides a significant gain in efficiency, with no real trade-off. All these features make it an ultra-pleasant and fun wing to fly, with incredible glide!

Certification

The Urubu King is not flight-approved to EN 926-2. However, they have passed the EN 926-1 test to verify their structural strength. LittleCloud has deliberately chosen not to certify them for flight. The manufacturer believes that this standard is no longer a guarantee of safety for the pilot. Paraglider certification does not protect pilots in the event of a flight incident: tests in still air, with induced maneuvers, do not necessarily reveal behavior in real-life conditions. Modern wings are highly resistant to collapses, and their return to flight in collapsible air can be very different from what can be appreciated in EN tests.

We test our wings over a very long period in a wide range of conditions to assess their actual behavior. Our design choices, based on the quest for performance, are tempered by the search for highly damped behavior during flight incidents.

Flying remains an aeronautical activity. We are subject to the same gravity as everything else that flies, and only the pilot, his choices (weather conditions, equipment, flight plans) and the margins he sets himself can guarantee maximum safety.
