Measure wind speed anywhere with the Skywatch WIND anemometer
TheSkywatch Wind anemometer from specialist brand Skywatch is a tool for measuring wind strength. Small and portable, it's easy to take with you on your adventures. It's the ideal device for paragliders, kitesurfers and any other discipline where wind plays a major role. The Skywatch Wind is powered by a factory-installed lithium battery. It is designed to take at least 250,000 measurements, giving several years' autonomy with regular use. Display is to the tenth decimal place up to 99.9, then to the unit. It's easy to use, so you can check weather conditions at any time.
The JDC anemometer is unsinkable and waterproof. Even if you do fall into the water, its ability to float means there's no risk of loss, and components won't be damaged. What's more, its high-contrast LCD display makes it easy to read data at any time of day.
Why measure wind speed with an anemometer?
Like temperature, wind speed is one of the most important weather data to know. Wind is an essential parameter for forecasting and understanding changes in weather conditions. Thanks to the anemometer, it is possible to measure these variations in speed and deduce future conditions.
Anemometers are used in a wide range of sectors, not just by weather services. For example, air transport, where navigation is dependent on weather conditions and possible bad weather, makes extensive use of this type of device. In certain sporting disciplines, such as paragliding or kite-surfing , measuring wind speed is also important.
However, an anemometer cannot be used to determine wind direction. To obtain this information, it must be coupled with a wind vane or a windsock.
Skywatch Wind features
The Skywatch Wind from JDC Electronic is easy to handle, thanks to its size and weight. Its LCD display makes it easy to read. It incorporates a lanyard to prevent falls. Finally, it can be used between -30° C and 70° C.
This measuring instrument is a propeller anemometer that displays instantaneous wind speed data over a measurement range of 3 to 185 km/. It displays the maximum wind speed, as well as the maximum speed over the lifetime of the instrument. Its accuracy is excellent, with a margin of error of just +/- 3%. Units of measurement are also modifiable and available in Km/h, mph, m/s, fps, knots and bft. It also incorporates a Beaufort scale wind bar graph.
The Skywatch Wind also measures temperature and wind chill, i.e. perceived temperature. Its measurement cycle is 0.5 seconds, with units of measurement in °C and °F.
