Itus: The optimized reversible harness

The Itus is a versatile reversible harness. This versatility means it can be used for walking and flying, site flying and cross-country flying. It even lets you travel the world. To help you make the most of every flight, Nova's production teams have integrated smart new features. For example, a zipper allows the rucksack to be completely detached from the harness. As a result, only the harness with a seatboard remains. This makes it more comfortable to fly, as well as super-light and compact on the ground. Nova is also preparing a variety of Itus-compatible backpacks. These will enable you to adapt the carrying volume to your equipment or intended use. You never carry more weight than you need, and you have exactly the storage space you need.

Comfort in flight and in transit

Nova has carried out a battery of tests on the Itus to ensure that users enjoy excellent transport comfort. The result is an ultra-optimized reversible harness. Firstly, the harness's SAS-TEC protection also acts as a backrest for the rucksack. When carried as a rucksack, the protection distributes pressure over a wide area. This has the same effect as the ergonomic backrest of a hiking rucksack. Even with a fully loaded pack, the load won't push uncomfortably against your back. An ergonomically shaped, padded hip belt helps relieve pressure on the shoulders during transport. Water bottle or trekking poles are always to hand in the practical pockets.

Itus safety

The materials and handling of the harness have been extensively tested in daily use. These tests are carried out on the G-Force Trainer and in a test environment. When the harness is unpacked, the airbag fills without waiting for flight, thanks to a 3-chamber system supported by Nitinol wire and a polycarbonate plate. The two memory supports constantly return to their original shape, but remain flexible during packing. This facilitates the Itus' small folding volume and protects the pilot from the moment of take-off. The color-coded buckles of the Clicksafe system facilitate correct connection. Additional SAS-TEC protection distributes the pressure of hard objects, such as stones on the ground, over a larger surface area. In the event of a fall onto the back, this reduces the risk of serious injury.

Special attention is paid to parachute deployment at the design stage. Unhindered deployment of the rescue is essential for pilot safety. To ensure simple operation even under difficult conditions, Nova teams have carried out countless Itus tests on the G-Force Trainer. The rescue deployment is subjected to the highest possible G-load, taking into account all possible deployment directions. The inner container is designed accordingly. Thanks to this new design, the entire front end of the rescue system distributes the tensile force. This facilitates deployment and prevents the rescue from jamming in the compartment at any angle.

The Itus harness plus

Anyone who hikes or treks in the mountains gets to the point where, after a few hot days, they may want to clean the rucksack section of the reversible harness. With most harnesses, this isn't easy without wetting the protection or parachute inside. Keeping them dry is essential for reliable deployment in an emergency. Thanks to the Itus' removable backpack, it's perfectly possible to wash it. In this case, please wash it by hand with water and mild soap. The backpack is not suitable for machine washing or drying.
