Description

Gain speed and performance with the Puma from Gin

The key word for the new Puma is performance. This wing is designed for pilots practicing classic distance flying and walk and fly. It combines glide and finesse rarely matched by a two-line in its class. In terms of top speed, it outperforms all other wings. Its handling is direct and agile, providing excellent sensations. Take-off is easy even without wind, which is rare for a 2-line.

High-performance DNA

The Puma is a lightweight adaptation of the tried-and-tested Leopard. The Puma is certainly the best-performing EN D-certified lightweight wing of all time. The Leopard 's 86-cell high-performance DNA has been retained. In particular, the wing's headwind glide performance is not affected by its lighter construction.

Speed in reserve

The Puma excels not only in terms of glide, but also in maximum speed. The great stability of the wingtips in accelerated flight enables the wing to reach a very high maximum speed. Even at such high speeds, the glide ratio remains flat and stable.

Light enough for the most demanding races

The objective in designing the Puma was to reduce the weight of the Leopard without sacrificing performance. Thanks to meticulous optimization of internal structure and materials, the Leopard is over a kilo lighter, putting the Puma in the category of wings for races such as X-Alps and X-Pyr. What's more, its performance is high enough for classic competitions. The experience and background of the athletes in the Gin Competition Team were decisive in the development of this wing.

Thermalling & handling

Handling is light. Direct feel at the controls gives the pilot a coherent picture of the air mass. Its great agility means that the wing reacts to the slightest sign of lift. The stall point is easily identifiable: in addition to the obvious safety advantage, it is also useful for tricky landings on tight terrain.

Take-off

The Puma will take off effortlessly in nil-wind conditions - even with a slight tailwind, given sufficient technical know-how. In stronger winds, all the pilot has to do is gently pull on the central A1 lines to initiate inflation, and the wing will rise evenly overhead almost by itself.

The pros' opinion

Test pilot Idris Birch explains the development of the Puma. Pilots asked us to lighten the Leopard for the X-Alps and X-Pyr: that's how the Puma was born.

Pilots who have flown the Leopard will feel right at home with the Puma. We've managed to retain all the performance, with a significantly lighter take-off. In the air, handling is lighter and more direct, so you can grab even the tiniest bit of thermal. It's also very maneuverable in strong thermals. In addition to the Alps and Pyrenees, we tested the Puma in the Valle de Bravo.

The Puma isn't absolutely the lightest in its class, because we decided not to compromise its performance. Instead, we optimized the weight by carefully analyzing the internal structure and choice of materials. Whether you prefer to win walk & fly races from the air, or use a single wing for both Cross and Hike & Fly, the Puma is the wing for you.

Athlete GIN Standa Mayer gives her impressions of the Puma.

"As a veteran, through my 3 X-Alps and 4 X-Pyr participations, I've been closely involved in the development of the Puma. It's very useful to have extra performance in the wind and in top speed: the Puma provides it perfectly."
