The aim of this selection is to offer you full light paragliding packs, without compromising on quality and performance, to guarantee you perfect piloting and flights. This type of pack is ideal to enable beginner paragliders to continue perfecting their skills when they leave paragliding school. It can also be used by more experienced pilots looking for lighter equipment.
The main reason is simple. These packs are often lighter to carry and more compact. This saves physical effort on the approach to flying sites. This type of paraglider also offers a second non-negligible advantage. Light paragliders are often easier to handle during the inflation phase. As a result, take-offs are approached more serenely, and there's often less need to run to build up the paraglider.
The paraglider offered in the lights complete packs are designed for the same use as the paragliders in the standard complete packs. However, the fabric used is lighter. The construction of the paraglider and the lines may also differ, but this in no way hinders the glider's performance and handling.
Obviously, there will be a difference between standard paragliders and lights paragliders. As already mentioned, the fabrics used are lighter and the wing construction can be optimized to always gain in weight and compactness. As a result, the strength of the paraglider gliders offered in complete lights packages will be less than that of complete classic paraglider packages. However, the progress made by manufacturers in recent years has led to significant gains in strength and service life. Today, the lifespan of lights and classic paragliders is tending to converge.
Classic harnesses can do the job, but we've chosen to offer reversible paragliding harnesses as standard. These harnesses offer the compromise of combining a rucksack and a harness in a single piece! Forget the rucksack, which can save a little over a kilo on average. As for the rest of the construction, these harnesses are quite similar to conventional harnesses, with or without a seatboard. They feature a protective airbag, as well as all the accessories such as gas pedals and ABS needed for a smooth paragliding flight.
To remain consistent, we have naturally selected "light" rescue parachutes. Weighing between 1.1 kilos for low-total weights in flight and up to 1.5 kilos for high-total weight in flight of around 130 kilos, these rescues offer the best value for money on the market. They combine performance, safety and a reasonable price. For even greater comfort and safety, some packs come with a square reserve parachute. These have the advantage of offering better pendulum stability, faster opening time, and a better sink rate for equivalent surface area than a round rescue parachute.
