Have your parachute packed by professionals
Air et Aventure unfolds, aerates and packs your reserve parachute. We can also assemble your harness if required.
Round rescue parachute packing
Air et Aventure we pack your round rescue parachute. After unfolding the parachute and airing it for at least 24 hours, our instructors refold it in our workshop. This removes moisture and static electricity from the fabric.
Why pack your reserve parachute regularly?
1/ Air and dry the parachute. Polyamide is a hydrophilic fiber, so a parachute lying in snow or dew tends to "pump out" the surrounding moisture.
2/ Remove static electricity, which delays or even prevents your reserve from opening.
3/ Replace the elastics. Over time, rubber deteriorates, and can cause lines to stick together.
4/ Check the general condition of the parachute, remove any folding marks, etc...
When should I pack my parachute?
At least once or twice a year. Packing can be done at the end of the winter season, because of the risk of moisture absorption due to the presence of snow, and at the end of the summer season. However, it is necessary to do so whenever special circumstances justify it, such as an untimely opening of the parachute bag, a safety course on the lake or an increased risk of moisture absorption.
Mounting the harness
This is a very important step. Once you've completed the aeration and packing stages, all that's left to do is to install the rescue handle in the harness.
