Classic and Light Paragliding Rucksack Bags: Essentials for Every Pilot
Paragliding is more than just an outdoor activity; it’s a quest for freedom and adventure that requires specific equipment. At the heart of this equipment are rucksack bags, essential for transporting and protecting your flying gear. At Air et Aventure, we understand the importance of choosing the right rucksack bag, whether it's a classic or light model. Discover our selection to combine comfort, practicality, and safety.
Classic Rucksack Bags: Durability and Comfort
Classic rucksack bags are designed to offer maximum protection for your gear. Made with durable materials, they provide unmatched durability against external conditions and friction during transport. Their ergonomic structure is designed to distribute weight evenly, reducing fatigue and increasing comfort while carrying your wing, harness, and reserve parachute. These bags are the perfect ally for pilots seeking robustness and storage capacity.
Light Rucksack Bags: Lightness and Flexibility
For those who enjoy hike & fly, vol-bivouac, or simply prioritize lightness, light rucksack bags are the ideal solution. Ultra-light and compact, they are specially designed to minimize the impact on the pilot during ascents or long walks. Despite their lightweight nature, these bags remain robust and functional, offering intelligent storage options and compression systems to optimize space. They are the preferred choice for pilots looking to combine performance and mobility.
How to Choose Your Paragliding Rucksack Bag?
The main function of the rucksack bag is to transport all your paragliding equipment on your back when you’re not flying. It must be able to accommodate your paragliding wing , of course, but also your harness, helmet, and possibly gloves, a radio, or your flight instruments. Several criteria should be considered when purchasing your rucksack bag.
The first criterion, and not the least, is the total capacity of your rucksack bag. This is usually referred to as the bag volume and is measured in liters (L). You will need to fit your paragliding wing , more or less neatly folded, and all the rest of your equipment. It is therefore recommended to choose a bag volume corresponding to the size of your wing. A 50 L bag can easily accommodate a single-surface or light wing, while a 90 L bag is better suited for larger paraglider wings. Air et Aventure recommends that, if possible, you visit the store with your equipment to choose your rucksack bag and test the bag volume according to your folding style and equipment.
Another important criterion is the comfort of using the rucksack bag. You will be carrying your bag on your back, sometimes for several tens of minutes during approach walks or on takeoff sites. The weight of your equipment, which can be up to ten kilos, can strain your shoulders and back if not properly supported. Thus, paragliding rucksack bags feature adjustable and reinforced shoulder straps. They also include stays to keep the back panel in place, fitting the shape of your back.
Finally, paragliding involves many small accessories such as flight instruments, a radio, line cutters, or a water bottle. To avoid stuffing all this equipment haphazardly into the main pocket and wasting precious minutes gathering everything, rucksack bags include accessible and practical storage pockets for optimized organization and equal load distribution.
