Innovative automatic carabiner design by Finsterwalder!
Innovative design
With the Snaplock, Finsterwalder now offers an automatic carabiner with twistlock, optimized for fatigue aging. The Snaplock has been reinforced at strategic points where fatigue stresses are concentrated.
Safer and lighter
Made from Titanal, the Snaplock resists 14KN without damage, even with the finger open, which is more than 4 times what standard steel carabiners can withstand. Correctly closed, it withstands 30KN, for just 76g each. Compared with a steel carabiner, that's a saving of almost 150g for a pair.
Not just for 25mm webbing.
The Snaplock has been designed for the 25mm webbing commonly used in modern lightweight harnesses, but it may be suitable for 40mm anchor points, if the webbing can be folded as shown in the following image and if the ring before the seam is long enough.
Practical:
The single ferrule is easy to handle, as it doesn't need to be pushed down, and as the ferrule is compact, straps are unlikely to get caught in the ferrule. Sold individually
Titanal is composed of :
88.5% aluminum2, 7.0% zinc2, 2.5% magnesium2, 1.7% copper2, 0.1% zirconium2
Due to the high proportion of aluminum, this alloy has its main physical and chemical characteristics, namely ductility, malleability and flexibility.
